Welcome

SPCH

Hello, Saints! We started this website to help us get ready for our 20th reunion. Our reunion was during Concordia’s 2008 Fall Festival weekend (September 5-7). Saints from any year are welcome to register here and leave a little info about yourself. Feel free to post questions, polls, news and anything else. The more the merrier.

A few more photos

I just uploaded a few more photos to flicker.com. Lauren took all of them. I must have really liked talking with you guys, because I didn’t even notice that she took over 400 pictures. She put them together into a little movie (as she is wont to do), but I’m holding it hostage until Brad puts his pictures up for the rest of us to see. I know he took a few…

Proposed Reunion Schedule

Here’s the email that Brad sent out yesterday. I’m posting it here in-case anyone else just happens to want to show up and crash the reunion. I think I speak for at least two other people when I say, “Sure, everyone’s invited.”

Dear Everybody,

Here is a proposed schedule of events. Sorry it’s late in coming. The reunion snuck up too quickly.

Of course, the Fall Festival is happening all weekend. See www.concordiafallfestival.com for scheduled events.

Friday

  • If you’re staying at Biltz, come to the front door. Either someone will be waiting, or the keys will be left on the altar in the lobby. Our contacts are Rosalie Pennington or Walter Loeber. If you can’t find anybody, my cell is 410-419-2688.
  • Nothing formal is planned for Friday evening. Anybody have ideas? The Heidelberg Gardens might be a logical place to meet.

Saturday

Register to Stay at Biltz

If you planned to stay at Biltz during the reunion, it’s time to send in the registration form and payment. CLICK HERE for the form.

Alumni guy Walter Loeber says we have a conference room at our disposal. Check out the other amenities HERE. There are rooms with one queen bed and rooms with two. Each room has its own bathroom.

And now here’s a picture of Biltz, thanks to someone named Margaret Hensley’s Picasa Web album. She must know Dave Rogner, because if you click the left arrow, there he is, plain as day.

…in the basement of good ol’ Biltz hall!

Name that Quad

Well, as most of you probably know, thanks to Bart we seem to have raised $2,060.00 for a bid at St. Paul’s Annual Auction. That didn’t turn out to be enough to win the bid for the tree (the tree went for $2,500.00), but we did win the “Name the street sign” for the Quad. The winning bid was $2000.

Bart’s idea to go for the tree so that we wouldn’t have to agree on a name for the sign was sheer genius, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. If you’re not getting the emailed ideas for names, let Bart know. I’ll try to summarize the ideas so far (mostly by copying Bart’s and everyone else’s email)…

A memorial of sorts for Victor and Mike…

  • Possibly a class mate who has passed away. Mike Campbell (positive:died serving his country and everyone loved him, drawback: only attended 1 year) Victor Gudorf (Everyone loved him, he was a great guy, drawback: don’t know that’s it’s appropriate since he didn’t graduate) –Bart
  • Oh, I love the idea of naming it for Mike and Vic. And, let me offer a different perspective on that option, if I may… As many of you many or may not know, my oldest sister passed away a few years ago. If the Class of ‘81 ever did something like this for her, it would really mean a lot to my family. Okay, I don’t say that because I’m plugging for it to be named for her - clearly that’s a different class’s responsibility. I just think both Mike and Vic’s families would be touched by the remembrance. –Karla

In Honor of a teacher…

  • It’s been called Backe Lane (one idea would to be name it after an influential teacher, that had passed away. Laverne Backe was who I thought of, so that’s probably out. But maybe someone else has another teacher). Maybe we could name after a teacher that’s still alive and teaching, Like Laubenstein or someone? –Bart
  • The Gove’s have been so influencial for so many years (all of them). They deserve a legacy! –Beth

Something having to do with our graduation year…

  • Rita said possibly: 88th Lane, Class of 88 Drive, something along those lines. — Bart
  • I like the other ideas better, but if we went with something like this I would throw out “88th Avenue” (love that alliteration, baby) or “route 88″ (like “get your kicks on route 66″). –Lloyd

Everything else…

  • Ideas for Quad: Vier (four), die Endlosschleife (endless loop) or die Loopen Kruisen –Bart

Feel free to add comments about ideas or more ideas here or continue to bounce emails around.
